May Music Events in College Station

With finals over and a few weeks left before summer classes begin, this is time to let loose and really enjoy life in College Station. Not that you couldn’t do so during classes… it’s just that without the stress of ever-encroaching deadlines, exam prep, and coordinating group projects, these blissful in-between weeks are extra carefree. There are so many exciting College Station events and activities to fill these days with, but we want to take a moment and focus on our city’s nightlife and concert possibilities.

May Music Must-go Events in College Station: Something for everyone

  • Rock Away Cystic Fibrosis Music Festival | May 12 & 13 | Hosted by the Lakeside Icehouse on the banks of Lake Bryan, this two-day benefit concert has some incredible acts on the list. You’ll enjoy this most if you love more soulful country/folk rock like If Birds Could Fly and roots rock like Zac Wilkerson. Proceeds are going to the nonprofit Beau Means Business Foundation and their work raising Cystic Fibrosis awareness and funding further research. In short, you get great music and support a great cause.
  • LOUD!FEST | May 18 to 21 | If you love PBR, dive bars, and local bands, then LOUD!FEST is where you want to be this month. For just $5, you’ll have access to 3 nights of music across 3 stages showcases an impressive 55 band hailing from every corner and cranny of Texas. (There’s some national acts thrown in there too). This is a true blue local event organized by locals and billed for locals. And, being that this impressively is the fest’s 10th round, it’s been pretty successful so you can expect a good time.
  • Starlight Music Series | May 6, 13, & 27 | The Starlight Music Series is a free summer event that occurs every year at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. Each night features a different music flavor. On May 6, the winners of the online voters choice contest will perform. On May 13, prolific songwriter and storyteller Will Hoge takes the stage and May 27 Def Leppard tribute band Def Leggend headlines. But really, best of all, this is a BYOB and BYOF event. Grab your cooler, your adult beverages, and your friends, then kick back to a budget-friendly event beneath the stars.
