  • San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo | February 8 – 25 | 3 hours from College Station. Also known as the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, this massive exposition offers an exciting array of events and activities throughout the month. This is one of San Antonio’s most beloved annual events, attracting over two million attendees every year. Some exciting events to check out include Bar-B-Que Cook-Off & Festival, live country acts like the Josh Abbot Band, steer wrestling competitions, and authentic western vendors.
  • Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k | February 18 | 2 hours from College Station. Is getting fit and being more active part of your 2018 new year’s resolutions? Then grab a running partner and head down to Austin for this prestigious running event. Marathon Marketplace, a health and fitness expo, will precede the event and showcase a variety of athletic products and health brands. The race itself attracts attendees from around the world and is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.
  • Whooping Crane Festival | February 22 – 25 | 4 1/2 hours from College Station. Want to enjoy a warm weekend outdoors and among wildlife enthusiasts? Pack up the sleeping bags and head down to the 22nd Annual Whooping Crane Festivals happening in Port Aransas, Texas. Already, organizers are estimating that this will be a record winter for Whooping Cranes. This is also the only place you can view these endangered birds up close in the Coastal Bend. Camping opportunities include spots at Nueces County Park and Mustang Island State Park.
  • Explore Marfa, TX | Anytime | 8 hours from College Station. Okay, this one you might have to reserve for a long weekend, but the long trek is very much worth it. Located on the very edge of West Texas, Marfa is a unique and isolated arts mecca of only 2,000 residents. Here, you’ll find funky bars and vegan cafes populated by famed painters in pearl-buttoned shirts. It’s a place like no other and definitely worth at least one overnight adventure.
